Mountain The term ‘Nanga Parbat’ literally translates to the ‘Naked Mountain’ in the local language, Urdu. The Nanga Parbat is the 9th highest mountain in the world and the 14th most prominent mountain. The latter part of its name has been coined by climbers as it is the 3rd most dangerous 8,000-meter peak. The mountain lies at the very western end of the Himalayan Range in Gilgit-Baltistan. The locals call it ‘Diamir’, which translates to the “King of Mountains.”
